               It is important to wire an Ethernet plug using the correct color code. There are two possible color codes, T568A and T568B

1) Straight through cable (T568A)

                 Straight cable is used to connect Computer to hub, switch, router, or wall.
          Looking at a plug with the hook underneath and the cable running toward the viewer’s body, pin 1 is on the left

The color code is 

  1. Green/White
  2. Green
  3. Orange/White
  4. Blue
  5. Blue/White
  6. Orange
  7. Brown/White
  8. Brown
 2) Crossover cable (T568B)


  1. Computer to Computer
  2. Network device to network device. For example, router to router.

The plug is oriented in the same way as for T568A above with pin 1 on the left


  1. Orange/White
  2. Orange
  3. Green/White
  4. Blue
  5. Blue/White
  6. Green
  7. Brown/White
  8. Brown
